(DOB 12/22/2023) Cosette is heartworm positive, but please do not let this stop you from adopting; our rescue will cover her treatment. Don't worry, our rescue will guide you through the process. Cosette, a sweet, soulful girl with a heart full of love and a loyal spirit to match. ե%90%BE Cosette is the definition of a devoted companion. True to her roots, she forms deep bonds with her people and is happiest when she's surrounded by love, cozy places to relax, and a family she can call her own. She has so much affection to give and is always ready to return any kindness she receives tenfold. She is quite, loyal and sensitive with the best soulful eyes; you may find yourself snuggling up close to her for a few extra kisses. Cosette enjoys an active lifestyle and does best in a home where she has opportunities to burn off her energy, whether that's through neighborhood walks or playtime in a securely fenced yard (so fenced yard - yes, please). She loves being outside and would thrive in a home that can offer her space to run, explore, and enjoy the fresh air. Cosette is currently learning some important life skills, including leash manners and building her confidence around cars. She didn't have many chances to learn these things earlier in life, but she's making great progress and enjoys getting out to explore her neighborhood. With continued encouragement and consistency, she'll only keep improving. She is also working on her potty routine and does well with frequent outdoor breaks or a home with easy yard access, like a dog door. At home, Cosette settles in beautifully. She sleeps soundly through the night in her crate (from about 9 PM to 6 AM) and enjoys a predictable daily routine with meals and downtime. She's also good with kids and brings a gentle, loving presence to the household. Because of her strong interest in smaller animals, a home without cats would be the best match for her. She has done well living with male dogs in her foster homes and may enjoy having a calm, friendly canine companion to play with and learn from. Cosette can be selective with other female dogs, so a home with male dogs or as the only dog would likely be the best fit for her. She's playful and social, but she appreciates dog friends who are patient and respectful of her space. She doesn't love sharing her toys or food as they are very special to her...maybe because she didn't have much in her previous life, so now she likes to keep it to herself; who could blame her? Cosette's journey hasn't always been easy, but it's clear that beneath it all is an incredibly sweet, resilient dog who simply wants to love and be loved. With a patient and caring family, she will blossom into a deeply loyal, affectionate companion who will stand by your side through everything. As part of Cosette's $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
