His current foster owner saved him from a bad breeding situation recently, in hopes of finding him his forever home. Simba is described by his foster owner as 'He has been a gentle giant with my 5 year old female Chow Chow. My uncle and cousin came over the other day and he barked at them while they were here'|.while wagging his tail and allowing my uncle to pet him'. Prior to this, we understand Simba was living in a backyard breeding situation and was not getting along with the other unfixed male, which was likely due to an unfixed female also in the home. We therefore feel he will do best with the opposite sex. We have several nice videos of him enjoying being pet and playing with a new female chow friend. Additionally, his foster says, 'He does potty outside. We have mastered coming back in through the dog door and we are working on learning how to go out.' She is now his owner and not aware of any other behavior or medical issues. Simba now has an appointment to be neutered 4/2 and will be brought current on any routine shots needed. He will also be microchipped. A $250 rehoming fee is requested to help cover these expenses. If you are interested in applying for Simba, please contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is assisting the foster owner with placement. Chow or dog experience is preferred. If you have another dog or pet, a meet and greet is strongly advised. Sorry, we do not normally do transport to private homes unless a rescue is involved, and or there are no risks in the home- and the adopter has access to safe transport, and can arrange this on their own. However, the foster may also be willing to meet an adopter part way if not too far. All adopters will be asked for a home check (which may be virtual), an application, pictures of past and current pets, a vet reference, and to sign an adoption contract.
