RICKY IS URGENT Ricky needs a home before March 30th, owner is very ill. BDRA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity that accepts no fees when helping individuals or other rescues. 100% of donations go directly to the care of the animals. Name: Ricky Age: 9.5 years Breed: Chihuahua/Pug Mix, 22 pounds Sex: Male (neutered) Location: Pinellas County, Florida Vet Info: Ricky is microchipped, current only with rabies vaccination. He has had a HW (negative) test in the past but doesn't have a current one. Ricky was diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago and became blind shortly after that. He is stable on insulin. Dog Info: Ricky is on his third owner - not because of anything Ricky has done. Current owner can not keep him due to severe medical condition. We are working with the vet's office for this adoption. Ricky is an outgoing boy that has adjusted well to his blindness (he possibly sees shadows occasionally). He is good with men, women and teenagers. He is good with male and female dogs. Cats are unknown. Ricky has become very attached to current owner (as most Chihuahuas have their 'person') and has snapped at the vet office but only when the owner is there. Once Ricky is away from owner he does very well with the staff. Ricky knows the commands: Come, sit, stay. He had some puppy training. Ricky is housebroken and leash-trained.
