About Rats

Adoption Fee: $40
Small Mammal
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Ashes & Dust are a bonded pair of adult male rats I have had for about two years now. They were given to me by someone who could not care for them. They are not from a breeder or neutered, since neither are aggressive when given enough time and space to play each day. Unfortunately I have developed an allergy in the past few months that makes it impossible to play with or handle them without severe risks to my own health, so I will be rehoming them to someone who has experience as a rat parent. They are cuddly and are okay with being handled gently. Ashes, the mostly white Himalayan, is very shy and prefers to be given a spot to snuggle in and can be nervous when held by less than two hands. Dust is hyperactive and bounces around when he's happy. He is less outwardly affectionate than Ashes, but he absolutely has is own special ways of showing that he loves his person. Despite some difficulty seeing at a distance, they are very aware of their surroundings and have the same curiosity as when they were babies. I can include their cage for anyone who needs it upon adoption as well as any leftover food and bedding I have. The adoption fee is primarily to make sure they aren't used as feeders by a less than responsible reptile owner, but I am willing to waive the fee should proof be provided that you own and care for rats as pets. These two are very special to me and have gotten me through some seriously dark times, so continued contact after adoption through text would be amazing but not required. As long as my babies have a loving home, I can comfortably say 'goodbye.'
