About Shay

Hi, my name is Shay! I may be small, but I've got presence - everywhere I go, people stop and stare because, well, I'm kind of a celebrity. At 5.5 years young and a dainty 9.6 lbs (working on getting back to my best self!), I'm a Pekingese princess who takes life at exactly the right pace - mine. I love people of all ages, kids included, and I'm happy to share my world with other dogs too. Cats? They exist, I suppose. I'm housebroken - I use both a pee pad and go outside - crate trained, a great car rider, and I sleep peacefully in my crate at night. Pretty much the complete package! Now, full disclosure: leash walking is more of a suggestion for me right now. I prefer to do my own thing, but I always stay close to my person when we're outside together. A little leash training and I'll be a pro! I'm also just discovering the joy of toys - there may be a playful girl in here waiting to come out. I'm cuddly, independent, and absolutely unmovable when I've decided something is mine. My Boston Terrier foster brother had opinions about me claiming his bed - but I just kept rolling around in it like the queen I am. Eventually he figured out I wasn't going anywhere. That's the kind of confidence I bring to a home. I am treat-motivated (and yes, I like to eat in peace, thank you very much), but overall I am just the sweetest, most easygoing little soul. I'm currently being treated for a few health things - a UTI, bladder stones, and a small cyst - but once all of that is behind me, I'll be feeling absolutely fabulous and ready for my forever home!
