About LEXIE

LEXIE is a 5-year-old, 8.5 lb Yorkie who was surrendered to us to find a new home. She is a sweet, shy girl who needs a home with a family who will give her lots of love and patience as she learns to be a pet. LEXIE is an absolute cutie who is sure to steal your heart. She is a very quiet, somewhat reserved little girl, but she does enjoy a cozy lap and gentle pets once she settles in. She seems to be the kind of dog who is just waiting for the good life with someone to snuggle. LEXIE does well with other small dogs and has had no issues sharing a bed with her foster family's two little dogs. She Will gain confidence by having a small dog buddy in her new home. We do not know how she would be with cats or kids but because she can be a little timid, if there are kids in her new family, they should be older and respectful with small dogs. LEXIE's potty training is still a work in progress, but she is improving and pee pads have been helpful. She does not reliably come when called just yet, so if you need to pick her up, you may need to work with her, but once she knows it is inevitable, she simply flattens herself on the floor and waits to be picked up without any fuss. A fenced yard is required in her new home. LEXIE sleeps in bed with her people and the other dogs at night with no problem at all. She is definitely a little chow hound and is always happy to look for any crumbs the other dogs may have left behind. After her dental, which left her with some teeth removed, she is enjoying softer food but still eats some kibble too. LEXIE is spayed, up to date on shots, had a dental, is heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. Important - check your spam folder for follow up questions and responses from our team. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We do not have a physical facility for visits. We adopt within a 6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally (within 1 hour to Pensacola). We do not ship or transport our dogs.
