About Jack

Jack is a wonderful, loving dog with MANY positive traits. He is great with family, adults & kids. He never has had an accident in the house. Never chews on anything but his toys and an occasional water bottle, when given one. He loves to snuggle, but sleeps on his own bed 90% of the night in our bedroom. He is not allowed on the sofas & obeys the rules even when we aren't home. He loves to play fetch, go on walks and ride in the car. He is unusually comfortable in the car. He loves to be with his humans and escort me as I vacuum the house. We have another rescue dog that he has been great with since day one. We chose him from a shelter where he was running free with many different dogs. Jack challenges: Over the years he has become protective and will bark when anyone comes to the door. Once someone comes inside, he will smother them with love & want to be petted. We live on a corner, near a park, where many people walk their dogs along our fence. He has jumped the fence 3 times to get to another dog, this is why I put 'aggressive'. Some dogs he doesn't even bark at, and others drive him crazy & we cannot figure out the why, which is why I put 'compatibility unknown'. He did break the skin of the most recent attack, not really a bite, but more like his huge tooth broke the skin on the leg. We cannot have this happen again. It breaks our hearts because he is really so wonderful and loved, but we cannot risk him scaring or going after another dog again. Our kids have now moved out and Jack needs more love. My husband and I love him so much, but we work a lot and with the recent events, we feel we are not the right home for him anymore. Jack needs a loving home, with a big backyard. He is great inside and loves kids. He will sometimes chat with you if you engage him to do so. He does whine sometimes to tell you he needs to go potty or needs water or has lost his toy under the sofa. We are at a loss and hope that someone with a loving home has the time and knowledge to eliminate his unwanted prey instinct, because other than this, he is a great dog.
