Chinny is a purebred Catahoula Hound. Beautiful dog, black and brown rather than the leopard spots of some Catahoulas. Her original owner had purchased her to hunt but kept her primarily in a crate because there was a small child in the house. He ended up not wanting the dog and was considering releasing her in the woods to fend for herself or possibly shooting her. Current owner is an elderly woman who rescued Chinny at that time and has kept her for the past six years in northern Maryland. She recently moved to a retirement community and is in an apartment and can really no longer care for the dog properly. Dog is sweet tempered and very loyal but has very high energy level and needs a place to run. She barks a lot and can be destructive. She loves everybody and is particularly fond of males. She is very strong. Weighs about 55 pounds. Likes chew toys and soup bones. Walks well on leash but will sometimes pull. Will jump up on strangers to greet them but may knock them over because she is so strong. Has never been known to bite anyone. Responds well to a few commands like 'sit,' but probably needs some training. Well house trained. Photo can be provided at a later date, as soon as I take one.
