Hammie, aka Harriet,is a sweet and deserving 22 pound, 6 year old Chihuahua mix. She is fostered in Linn County, OR, 1 hour from Eugene, Sisters, Salem, Albany. Two hours from Portland and we will drive part way. She had a recent eye enucleation due to Glaucoma. Harriet loves going for walks, rolling in the green grass, snoozing in a chair, cuddling, and has just started to play with our same sized male foster dog.She enjoyed floating in a raft and other outdoor activities in her past. Harriet seeks a foster/foster to adopt, permanent foster home in the Portland or Bend area, ideally a house with a fenced yard and folks not gone long hours. Harriet was crated a lot in her former life in an apartment and we would like her to have more companionship and freedom in her future. She gets along with dogs her size and larger. She has not tolerated our small, deaf, female senior. So no smaller dogs or kids at this point, for the Ham. Harriet was recently discovered to have a chronic non-contagious tick borne disease that she got as a tiny puppy in Mexico. We believe that we will be able to get her stabilized on good food and some over the counter supplements to keep her healthy and without high medical costs going forward. She may need periodic bloodwork and possibly a medicine. It is work in progress only 2 weeks in, with a dog we did not know had this condition. For now, we would love a foster home where Hammie can have companionship, walks, care and a yard. All supplies are provided and all vet care covered by rescue. Please reach out if you have questions or interest in fostering, potentially permanently fostering, or adopting for a donation in lieu of fee, this deserving girl. Harriet has been with us less than 2 weeks has become increasingly joyful and comfortable.
