Ichabod Needs a Foster or Adopter by March 21 to Secure His Ride to Wisconsin Ichabod is currently with our rescue partners in Georgia and needs a foster or adopter to secure his spot on the transport to Cedarburg, WI with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on Saturday, March 21, 2026. A committed home is required for him to make the trip, and we're hopeful the right person is out there. Meet Ichabod Ichabod is a 2.5-year-old mixed breed who is ready for a fresh start. Found as a stray, this 55-pound mystery mix has quickly become a favorite thanks to his friendly personality and one-of-a-kind look. He's what we lovingly call a true Heinz 57 - depending on who you ask, you might see a little Shepherd, some Cattle Dog, maybe even Greyhound. He's definitely the kind of dog who would make a DNA test fun. What we know for certain is that Ichabod is an absolute sweetheart. He's very social, dog-friendly, and full of silly personality. He's the type of dog who greets the world with a wagging tail, a happy smile, and those incredible ears always tuned in for whatever fun might come next. Ichabod has a playful side but is also very gentle and enjoys spending time with people just as much as playtime with other dogs. He would likely enjoy an active home where he can go on adventures, explore the outdoors, and then relax with his people at the end of the day. After being found as a stray, Ichabod is ready to leave shelter life behind and start the next chapter of his life with a family of his own. Apply: Fill out an adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents. 2.) Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email. 3.) Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: After approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5-day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit. 4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process, we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. The procedure MUST be done at HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI, or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, we will reimburse $150 once we receive proof of the procedure. We recommend spay/neuter around 6 months old. **Note: Adoptions are not considered final until the dog is neutered/spayed if applicable**
