Poppy is a sweet, snuggle-bug of a dog. She loves people. Her entire body wags when she sees people. She is so gentle that she refuses to play tug of war. We came from a shelter in Dallas at 6 months old. She'd been hit by a car and fractured her hip. She's healed, but she gets sore after a few miles. It doesn't stop her from being a good hiking buddy. We've worked on verbal recall and heeling. She does need about half a mile to work out the excitement of walks, but once she's great once she's found your pace. She is 60 pounds of lap dog and will spend whole afternoons snuggling. Our kids were elementary age when we brought her home. So, she's always been around kids. We also have cats and chickens and she's not bothered them. She sits, lays down, waits for treats, and shakes. Unfortunately, she has some anxiety and food aggression with other dogs. She's on prozac for anxiety. However, the food aggression has resulted in her biting our other dog. She's never shown food aggression with people and is extremely gentle when taking treats. She likely needs to be an only dog. We want to do our best to make sure she finds the home that's right for her. I think we may just have more going on in our home than her sweet, anxious demeanor can handle.
