An ideal home would be with women and another dog. If a man is in the household, he will need to be very patient and calm, willing to put in bonding time. We have a two year old and a new baby, who Stetson does well with. He protects mom and shadows her around. We have two cats, and Stetson generally ignores them. Stetson loves to go on hikes and walks. Ideally, he gets a 30-60 minute walk every day. He absolutely loves to train with treats. Once in a while he will play fetch with a bully stick, but otherwise does not play fetch, tug of war or with toys. Stetson is a smart, active, healthy, and food-motivated dog. He loves to play with other dogs and does well at a dog park, though his 'come' is selective on hearing. Stetson is very anxious, and more easily feels safe and connected with women. After time and patience, his trust can be earned by any calm adult. He will bark at strangers at the door, so we recommend a quiet street or willing to put in the time to do positive reinforcement training to work on that. He has surprised us the past couple of years by showing that he does very well around young children. Stetson is house trained and can be alone for long periods of time. He does not like being in a crate, because of his very first home. We found out he was neglected for his first 6+ months and kept in a crate -- he has indents on his teeth from chewing metal. He does not like to feel cornered or trapped. We allow him on our bed for sleep. He enjoys training and knows sit, bow, lay, off, speak ('what do you think?'), spin, touch. We are due to take him in for his annual vet visit. He is microchipped and very healthy.
