Meet Benny Benny is a sweet older dog. We don't know his history, but his body shows the wear and tear of a hard life of neglect. He was taken to a high kill shelter, and the finder was told he'd be put down if no one claimed him. No one came. We were contacted to see if we could bring him to the safety of our no kill shelter, giving him a chance to find a loving home. Benny is a 22 lbs. Jack Russell/rat terrier mix. He's earned the nickname of Grandpa Benny because of his frosty face, kindly demeanor and twinkly eyes. And his ears, to die for. He's a gem. Our vet thinks Benny is just seven/eight years old. He could use a dental. Sadly, he tested positive for heartworms. We'll have those treated and get Benny on the path to health. Benny is a happy soul. He loves people. He does great with other dogs. We'll test him with cats for potential adopters. He walks easily on a leash and enjoys his walks. He loves car rides and rides like a champ. Benny loves treats and is so gentle. He loves being a part of whatever is going on. He's a social fella and absorbs all the attention he can get. He absolutely loves his bed and soft blankets. Most likely he's never known such luxury and it's hard to get him to move when it's time to clean his kennel lol! This boy is definitely ready for some comfort. Benny is not yet housetrained, but he's very smart and with some consistency and patience, he will learn quickly. Having a fenced yard will be important. It doesn't have to be big, but Benny was found wandering and we will want to make sure he stays safe. Benny may be a bit older, but he has a lot of life in him. He's playful and curious. He's sweet and funny. He's a great size and will love to be a constant companion. He's easy to take places. If looking for a lovely older dog, Benny is a keeper.
