I am looking for a safe and experienced home for my 3-year-old intact Australian Shepherd. This is one of the hardest decisions I've had to make because he has been a loyal, loving dog in our family for years. He has always been extremely affectionate with us, very intelligent, and protective of our home. He bonds closely with his people and thrives when he feels secure. Unfortunately, our living situation recently changed and we are currently in an environment where multiple loose dogs have repeatedly attacked him while he has been restrained. Since these attacks he has developed severe anxiety and fear reactions. He has been in a constant state of stress and recently reacted during a startle incident and bit my hand. Because I have children, I cannot safely keep him in our current situation, but I truly believe he could recover and be himself again in the right environment. About him: 3 years old Intact male Australian Shepherd Very intelligent and loyal Loving and protective with his family High-energy working breed Would likely thrive on property or with someone experienced with herding breeds Ideal home: Experienced dog owner familiar with working/herding breeds Secure fenced property (no chaining) Quiet, stable environment Preferably no small children Someone willing to give him time to decompress after the trauma he has experienced This dog has been deeply loved and this decision is being made purely for the safety of my children and for his well-being. I want him to go somewhere he can feel safe again and be the wonderful dog I know he is. Please message if you are experienced with Australian Shepherds and believe you could provide the right environment for him.
