About Lilly

Lilly is a beautiful 2.5-year-old, 44 lb blue and tan spayed female Doberman mix with a heart full of love and a gentle, submissive nature. She came to us as a stray alongside her daughter, and from the moment she arrived it was clear that Lilly is a very special girl who simply wants to please her people. Lilly is already well-mannered and knows several commands including sit, come/here, heel, leave it, drop it, focus, and wait/stop. She is also fully potty-trained and walks nicely on a leash. She typically does not pull unless she gets excited when spotting another person, and even then she responds quickly to a gentle leash correction and settles right back into her walk. One of Lilly's most endearing traits is how incredibly gentle and submissive she is with both people and animals. She shows no signs of resource guarding with food or toys and happily shares her space. While many dogs are motivated by treats or food, Lilly's greatest reward is affection and attention from her humans. During her temperament testing, Lilly was initially a little nervous meeting other dogs, but after a few minutes she warmed up to a female dog named Camila and politely invited her to play. She remained slightly more reserved around the male dog but was completely comfortable being around him. Lilly also did very well with the cats she met during testing. Lilly looks to her humans for reassurance and guidance, and she responds extremely well to gentle corrections-usually only needing one or two reminders if she does something her person doesn't like. She is eager to learn and very motivated to make her people happy. Because Lilly gains confidence from other dogs, we believe she would thrive in a home with one or more friendly resident dogs who can help show her how to 'dog'-from playing with toys to enjoying canine companionship. Lilly is a sweet, soft-hearted girl who just wants to be close to her people and be part of a loving family. With patience, encouragement, and a little help from a canine friend, she will blossom into an incredibly loyal and devoted companion.
