Cali is a 1-year-old brindle and white mixed breed, spayed female with a heart as big as her personality. She originally came to us as a stray in rough shape, with lacerations around her neck, severe bruising under her arms and abdomen, and nerve damage that caused her to walk a little sideways. Thanks to time, healing, and a phenomenal foster family, Cali made a full recovery - and today you would never know she went through any of it. Now healthy and thriving, Cali is an extremely loving and gentle dog who absolutely craves human attention. She loves being close to her people and is happiest when she's getting affection or spending time with her family. In her foster home, she lived with two little girls under the age of 10 and was wonderful with them, showing just how sweet and patient she can be with kids. She is potty-trained. Cali already knows several commands including sit, stay, down, drop it, focus, and off. Sometimes she may need a reminder with 'stay,' but that's mostly because she gets so excited to be involved with whatever her people are doing. She walks on a leash and may pull a bit at first, but she settles down once she gets going. When it comes to other dogs, Cali's excitement is contagious. The moment she sees another dog, her joyful personality explodes - she acts like she's just spotted a long-lost best friend. She gets incredibly happy, bouncing around and trying to initiate play, almost like she wants to play an enthusiastic game of tag. Because of this excitement, she can come across a little rude to more reserved dogs, but it's all coming from a place of pure happiness and eagerness to play. Cali has shown no aggression or possessiveness with food or toys. When she finds a toy she really loves, she might try to scoot away with it as if to say, 'please don't take it from little old me,' but she is not defensive about it. She has also shown that she can live comfortably with cats. Even when they swatted or hissed at her, she simply ignored them and went about her day. Cali is a resilient, affectionate, and joyful dog who has already overcome a difficult start in life. Now she's ready to find a forever family who will give her the love, playtime, and companionship she thrives on. With her sweet nature and happy spirit, Cali is sure to bring endless love and laughter to the lucky home that adopts her. https://www.oconeecountyga.gov/forms.aspx?FID=80
