Courtesy Posting: X URGENT- ALBUQUERQUE, NM- Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department- Eastside location - ID #A1940314 - 1 YR STUNNING MALE CHOW 'SHIEGO' AT RISK IN HIGH INTAKE SHELTER HELP!!! SHIEGO NEEDS IMMEDIATE RESCUE, BUT MAY BE AVAILABLE TO ADOPT to PRE-APPROVED CHOW SAVVY HOMES. SHELTER IS ASKING FOR HELP AND SAYS HE IS AT URGENT RISK FOR EUTHANASIA! WE ARE DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR A SAVVY HOME, OR FOSTER AND RESCUE TO SAVE HIM IN TIME. RESCUES NEED FOSTERS TO HELP! Please see several videos we have and read the entire post. This poor boy was previously chained by his owner. He is only 1 yr old!! The shelter just reached out to us 3/10 and said, 'We have a chow chow here who is at risk of euthanasia and is very urgent, and I'm hoping you can help network him: Shiego A1940314 Due to his behavior, he is not currently listed as available for adoption. Interested adopters can contact me directly, and I would be able to approve an adoption if someone is qualified. Shiego was surrendered by his previous owner due to the neighbors complaining and the owner not having time. Before he was surrendered, there were several calls complaining about him roaming loose and behaving aggressively, and being chained outside for hours. He is approx 1 year old, intact male, about 40 - 50 pounds. His left ear is folded down and drooping, we don't know why because he won't let anyone touch him. Shiego is reacting to people approaching him and trying to leash him with growling, baring teeth, and snapping. I have been able to leash him by moving very slowly, and he is getting slightly better with me. He seems to enjoy going for walks and running around a yard, and he is very eager for treats, but so far will not let anyone touch him. I've attached a couple videos to show this behavior. I think he can eventually warm up and start allowing some touch, but it's slow going. If we do find an adopter or someone who wants to foster him, then he will be neutered, and the vet will do a full exam once he is sedated.' If you are a rescue group and interested in pulling , or a chow savvy home who can adopt in person, or a chow savvy local foster, please call (505) 768-1975 (and reference the applicable ID). You may also email Sarah at [email protected] If you have another dog, we encourage you to request a dog test or meet and greet However, if you need further help, or are interested to foster, or foster to adopt, please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network asap as we are trying to find fosters we can then refer to a willing rescue group to save him in time.
