[I do my best to be as accurate as I possibly can in these profiles. I disclose all that is disclosed to me]. [Case opened on 03/09/26]. URGENT!!! Rockbridge, Ohio. (willing to drive up to 2 hours). 2 Y/O MALE SHEPHERD MIX (DOB: 12/07/23). His name is 'Rocky'. Background: Rocky has been with the current Shepherd parent for a little over a year. They took him in from their granddaughter who could no longer keep him. They have been fostering him with no intention of keeping him permanently and want to find him the right Furever Home. UTD on shots WITH record. Fixed. Good with kids. Good with dogs. Does very well around other dogs unless they come on his property or porch. Most dogs that he already knows are welcome. Good with cats (but plays rough at times). House trained. Crate trained. Any known medical issues?: He has a fatty lump on his posterior that the vet has checked and said is no concern. Abuse/Neglect/Trauma History?: None known. ENERGY LEVEL: High. PREY DRIVE LEVEL: High. Weighs 71 lbs. Currently on food unknown. Good with car rides?: He is currently on 14 acres of Country property and does not leave the property much except to go to the vet and did very well on the ride. Socialized with: *people?: Yes. *dogs?: Yes. Good with meeting new people? (ALWAYS USE PROPER INTRODUCTION!): No - Rocky has Stranger Fear and Fear-based Aggressive Behaviors. He did very well being around Strangers at the vet. It's mostly if strangers enter his territory. Meet and Greets should be on NEUTRAL ground to ease Rockey's Territorial of Home Behavior. Loves: Snacks, squeaky toys, bones, cuddling, walks, chilling on the couch, playing with kids, balls, playing fetch, sleeping in bed, and being near his person. *Intelligent and knows Basic Commands?: This breed is super intelligent. *Good Recall? (ALWAYS RETRAIN BEFORE ALLOWING OFF LEASH): Yes, recall is good. *Good on a Leash?: Unknown. *Lovable?: This breed is super lovable once they claim you as their person/family. *Eager and fast learner?: This breed is super fast learners when they are being committed to and worked with. Bite History?: No. NOTES FROM CURRENT SHEPHERD PARENT: 'Rocky is very loving with his human family. He likes to lie on the couch with his head in my lap while I watch TV.' Re Homing because�'�|: Rocky's high energy is more than the Current Shepherd Parent can manage. They cannot provide the active lifestyle that Rocky truly needs and deserves. They stepped up to foster him for their granddaughter but were never able to keep him permanently. He needs to find his Furever Home ASAP. Rocky will be a great companion for the right person. Will thrive best�'�|?: Rocky needs an EXPERIENCED Shepherd Parent that understands Territorial Behavior, Stranger Fear, Reactivity, and Resource Guarding. He needs a home with Proper Introductions with new people, and someone who is home often and able to give him the exercise, leadership, and structure he needs. Preferably someone with not a lot of visitors coming and going so that Rocky can relax and thrive. Additional behavior notes: Rocky is very loving and affectionate with people he knows. He does have Stranger Fear / Territorial Behavior when people enter the home. He must be muzzled at the vet once in the exam room for vaccines or nail trims due to fear. He has some Resource Guarding tendencies and may snap if someone reaches into his crate while he has a treat, food bowl, or item he brought in there. Rocky is good with cats, but he can play rough. He has been known to pick up the current Parent's cat and carry it to his crate (the cat is not amused). Comes with: Collar, leash, crate, and toys. RehomingFee $100.
