About SNOOPY

SNOOPY is a 1-year-old 7.2 pound Maltese who was surrendered because his owner is moving. He came to us literally bones, drastically underweight at 5 pounds. Once he was being fed properly, he put on a little over 2 pounds quickly. SNOOPY is an affectionate, goofy little guy who quickly bonds with his people and loves being close to them. He follows his person everywhere and happily climbs into a lap for cuddles and kisses. A home where someone is around most of the time would likely suit him best. He has a fun, silly personality and brings a lot of laughter to the house with his playful antics, bursts of zoomies, and love of squeaky toys and tug of war. He stays very close to his person and often zigzags around your feet, so he can be a bit of a tripping hazard. SNOOPY enjoys the company of other dogs and likes to initiate play. He has shown himself to be very respectful when another dog signals they are not interested. He recently visited a home with several other dogs and happily romped around with them. He would enjoy having a playful, smaller canine companion in his new home. We do not know how he would be with kids or cats. SNOOPY is not fully potty trained but is making progress. He was recently neutered and currently wears a belly band in the house as he continues to work on his house training. He is very food motivated and will need continued guidance around food manners since he experienced food insecurity. At night SNOOPY typically starts out in the big bed but eventually chooses to sleep on the floor. Despite having several dog beds available, he seems to prefer that for sleeping. He walks nicely on a leash, has excellent recall when off leash, and rides very well in the car. SNOOPY is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. Important - check your spam folder for follow up questions and responses from our team. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We do not have a physical facility for visits. We adopt within a 6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally (within 1 hour to Pensacola). We do not ship or transport our dogs.
