About Max

Adopt Max ��%90%BE Max is a handsome, happy, and affectionate boy about 2-3 years old who made his way to us from a California shelter. He is now safe and currently in foster in Altamont, NY and looking for his forever home. Max is dog friendly and cat friendly. He enjoys playing with his high-energy foster sister and would love a home with another dog he can wrestle and play with. He is also calm and respectful around other pets. Max is in that young adult stage, so he does best with structure, activity, and enrichment. He loves puzzles, strong chew toys, playtime, and walks. He is extremely food motivated and eager to learn, which makes him very trainable. We even think he may have had some K9-style training because he runs through tricks he knows to earn treats. When Max first came to us, he was very thin and weak. With good food and care, he is now healthy, strong, and has a beautiful shiny coat. Max did lose a toe from an old injury, but it doesn't slow him down at all. He is loyal, intelligent, and protective in the typical German Shepherd way, often placing himself between his people and anything unfamiliar. Max would thrive with a watchful, structured owner who will continue his training and give him the job and guidance he enjoys.
