YOUNG CANE CORSO MIX 'KANE' - BIG TEDDY BEAR, FRIENDLY & TRAINABLE (CA). Meet Kane, a handsome Cane Corso mix who still thinks he's a puppy. This big, lovable boy is affectionate, social, and eager to learn - a true 'gentle giant' in the making. Kane is a young Cane Corso / Mastiff mix with the personality of a big, playful puppy. At almost 100 pounds, he still behaves like an adolescent dog who loves attention, affection, and interaction with people. Kane is a staff and volunteer favorite at the shelter because of his friendly, loving nature. He enjoys belly rubs, hugs, and spending time close to his handler. He often leans in for affection and happily flops down for belly rubs during walks. Although Kane is a large dog, he is responsive and easy to handle. He knows basic commands such as sit and down, and he settles when redirected if he becomes excited. He walks well on a harness and leash and is very treat-motivated, which makes him eager to learn and very trainable. Kane is still young and sometimes shows typical puppy behaviors such as jumping or playful mouthing during playtime, but he has never shown aggression and has no bite history while in our care. With structure, consistency, and training, he has tremendous potential to grow into an excellent companion. He does well with other dogs and enjoys social interaction. Because of his size and playful energy, a home with children 10 years or older would likely be the best fit. Cats have not been tested. Kane is fully vaccinated and heartworm negative. He currently has a cherry eye, which will be corrected during his neuter surgery before placement (covered by the shelter). Kane would thrive in a home with someone who understands large breeds and is willing to invest time in training and structure. He is a loving, happy dog with a big personality and a lot of potential to become a wonderful family companion. No bite history. Transportation assistance can be coordinated if needed.
