Emergency Foster Needed for Romeo Romeo is a 71-pound, four-year-old, loyal, strong and loving, white and tan American Bulldog-mix looking for a loving guardian. His current foster mom is having surgery on Monday March 9th and Romeo needs a new foster home. Romeo was found emaciated and lethargic, tied to a tree, a good Samaritan untied him and brought him to the vet. He was not microchipped and had no tags or collar. It was found that Romeo had consumed a large child's toy which had gotten lodged in his intestine. He had emergency abdominal surgery, and has gained almost 20 pounds! Romeo is living in a foster home with three other dogs and two cats. Two of the dogs enjoy playing with him, and one hates him. The cats are great with him, and he's great with the cats. But, it all depends on the cats' comfort level with dogs, and a slow introduction is necessary. Romeo is looking for a quiet home in need of hunk of a dog with patient people willing to work on his training and manners. In the summer, he loves to chase the water out of a hose! He is good on leashed walks, but he can be dog reactive to other dogs. He has no food aggression. And, he's great at the groomer's. Romeo is now very healthy, neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, bordetella and leptospirosis, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative, fecal-tested, dewormed, and microchipped. His adoption fee is waived. To meet and possibly foster or adopt Romeo, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up to meet him by e-mailing [email protected] He is currently being fostered in Chicago's Sauganash neighborhood.
