Meet Wombat: A Resilient Boy Looking for His Forever Family ժ I recently had the absolute joy of spending time with Wombat, a stunning 2-to-3-year-old Aussie/Heeler/Border Collie mix. At a petite 33 pounds with the most striking blue eyes, he is just as handsome as he is sweet. Wombat has been through a heartbreaking transition lately after his beloved owner recently passed away. He is currently being fostered by family members who are dedicated to finding him the perfect landing pad. Despite having his world turned upside down, this brave boy isn't letting his loss dim his bright spirit. When I visited, he greeted me in the backyard with pure, infectious enthusiasm. He was so proud to show off his fetch skills with a Kong, happily bringing it right back to drop at my feet. Wombat isn't motivated by treats or food; what he truly craves is connection. He is deeply motivated by praise, love, and a warm hand to pet him. On our neighborhood walk, his joy was palpable. He was thrilled to sniff and explore, pulling just a little in his excitement but redirecting beautifully. While we didn't pass any dogs on our stroll, his fosters note that he barks excitedly when he sees them. He's still finishing up his booster shots so he hasn't had formal playdates yet, but it's very likely he just wants to make friends! He currently lives peacefully with several foster cats, and I truly believe he'd be thrilled to have a playful feline or canine sibling in his new home. Wombat is a smart, darling boy who is so eager to please. He already knows 'sit' and 'come,' and if he ever gives a little bark to demand more pets, a gentle 'no bark' is all it takes for him to settle. He has been receiving wonderful vet care-he is microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, and will be neutered this Thursday. (Note: His fosters are successfully managing a minor skin irritation on his hind end with a simple diet change and flea prevention, and he is feeling great!) Wombat's Ideal Home: Because Wombat is used to having his person around most of the time, his dream home would be with someone who is retired, works from home, or can take him on their daily adventures. He needs a family who can provide a few good play sessions and walks each day, but more than anything, he just wants a steady routine and endless affection. Once he feels that stability again, he is going to make his new family incredibly happy. %8D Location: Fostered in Hillsboro, OR %90%BE Adoption Fee: $400 If you have room in your heart to be Wombat's forever home, please fill out an application here: https://www.herduneededahome.com/adopt-a-dog Have questions about this sweet boy?
