Adoption Fee: $300
Lab mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Jovi, a 4 year old Lab mix with a comeback story. Jovi was surrendered to a shelter by a homeless man who had fallen on hard times. While there, he tested positive for heartworms. We pulled him from the shelter into a foster home and guided him through treatment following American Heartworm Society's protocol. He handled it like a champ, and today he is healthy, healed, and officially ready for the life he has been waiting for. In his foster home, Jovi is thriving. He is house trained, crate trained, and walks politely on a leash. While his paperwork may say four years old, he plays like a goofy two year old who just discovered joy for the first time. He has a favorite hobby: flopping dramatically in front of his slightly crabby, older, larger foster sister with a toy in his mouth and gently bonking her until she caves and plays. Persistence is an art form, and Jovi is Picasso with a squeaky toy. He loves chase, tug, wrestling with his dog siblings, and recruiting his humans into any available game. If no one accepts his invitation, he flips onto his back and tosses toys into the air to entertain himself. Problem solved. Jovi operates on a very simple daily schedule: Play Eat Nap. He is a professional napper. Sunbeam on the couch? Claimed. Spot next to his human? Claimed. Saturday morning belly rubs in bed? Reserved in advance. He sleeps through the night and happily lingers in the morning like a dog who understands the luxury of slow living. When meeting new people, Jovi is extremely shy. He prefers to evaluate from behind the couch for a few minutes, conducting what appears to be a thorough character assessment. Tasty treats help move the process along. Once he decides you are his person, it is game over. He will follow you everywhere. Laundry room, kitchen, garage, it does not matter. He gazes at you with open adoration while you complete the most boring tasks imaginable. Try to sneak away and he will track you down like a soft nosed detective. He is not a big barker, but when you come home he makes the funniest little grunts and happy yips that sound like he is narrating his excitement in his own secret language. Jovi gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes and has ignored cats. He would enjoy a playful canine buddy but would also be perfectly content as your one and only. A physically fenced yard is required so he can safely unleash his zoomies and backyard Olympics routine. Jovi has already overcome more than most dogs ever should. Now he is ready for the easy chapter. The one filled with toys, sunshine, loyalty, and a human who never leaves him wondering where he belongs again. Jovi is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. If you would like to meet Jovi, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org.
