Courtesy Posting: URGENT AT PHOENIX, AZ - ID #4156-'PRESTON' AT MASH (Maricopa Animal Safe Haven), part of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office - previously abandoned on the Tonopah reservation with another dog- who can help and provide a forever home for either or both (they do fine separated or together)? Fosters may also be needed if they need rescue Super Senior! Estimated to be 10 years young, 45 lbs, super sweet, dog friendly, cat friendly, Chow/shepherd/golden retriever looking mixes We are in urgent need of finding a responsible forever home or foster for dear 'Preston ' (aka Priest for short), as well as his friend or brother Norman who is posted separately, the two do not need to necessarily stay together. They are sadly from an abandonment case and came in with a third dog who sadly already passed away from medical conditions. Preston and Norman are now at MASH who exists to house, care for, and rehabilitate animals involved in cruelty, neglect, and abuse investigations. They provide safe housing for daily care and rehabilitation, both medically and behaviorally, for the animals that are a part of those investigations. Mash describes them as 'Good w/ dogs/cats/kids: Good with all. Behavior: Very friendly. No resource guarding, walk well, very happy dogs.' They further described Preston as 'a quiet, adult male dog, estimated to be around 10 years old. He came to MASH after losing his owner and has mostly spent his time outdoors. While he can be a bit shy at first, he gets along well with both male and female dogs and has a sweet, gentle nature. Priest may take some time to feel comfortable, but with patience and calm kindness, he's sure to warm up and become a wonderful companion. He's looking for a caring home where he can feel safe and loved. Priest typically will only use the restroom on the 'potty turf' that we have in our day rooms, showing he's making strides on being housebroken.' They provided videos the dogs interacting with one another: IMG_0094.MOV - Google Drive IMG_0095.MOV - Google Drive They also brought each dog into one of their cat cells and said, 'both showed no interest in the cats' and they provided us nice videos of the interactions and did great with them. They added, Preston, 'was bopped on the nose by one of the cats and had no reaction.' IMG_0097.MOV - Google Drive. Please note Preston is also now on Carprofen for arthritis. A full copy of medical notes is available. If you'd like to meet Preston and five him a second chance at life, please call 602-876-1212 to set up a meet and greet. Please ask for him by ID. Rescue groups should contact the shelter directly by calling or emailing Dustin at: [email protected] His listing link has been pasted into the comments section of these notes. If you need further help or may be interested in fostering, fostering to adopt, or helping in some other way (ie., pledging for their rescue if needed), please email [email protected] asap at Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to find placement asap as rescue groups need a foster too.
