About Charlie

Great Pyrenees / Border Collie
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Charlie was born 6/27/24 to two of our family dogs (Wren, a purebred Border Collie and Leo, a Great Pyrenees with a little Australian Shepherd). He is about 67 lbs. He is one of 2 puppies we kept in our family. Unfortunately, he and his littermate (also a male, Dorian, who we also must rehome but they cannot live together) do NOT get along at all and it has been worsening over time. They are both very dominant, resource-guarding, and jealous of one another. It is no longer safe for us to keep the two of them together (especially as their fights often trickle over to our other dogs) and we are urgently looking for a new family for Charlie. Charlie is very sweet with humans, including most strangers. He loves to play and he loves to be pet. He loves being outside and would make a great companion on hikes etc. He is unpredictable with other dogs - he gets along fine with some of our other dogs, including the smallest, but he has gotten into fights with others. He will resource guard food, toys, and especially people - he is both very protective and he wants all the love and attention for himself! For that reason, we hope to find a family who has no other dogs. He also needs access to the outdoors, either a fenced yard (which he has now) or at least several walks a day - he has all the energy of both breeds and likes to have something to do. He won't be happy in an apartment or with a family who is gone much of the day. We are all very attached to him and have tried to avoid rehoming but we don't want him or his brother to get hurt. :( Please text me if you think you might be a good fit. If you are within a 90 mile radius of Binghamton, we'd be happy to meet halfway to see if you click. Euthanizing him is something our vet is encouraging us to consider if we cannot rehome him.***
