He's the kind of dog who watches first, processes second, and loves deeply once he knows you're his. Thoughtful and sensitive, Oscar takes his time with new people and new dogs. But that quiet start? It's just the beginning. Once he feels safe, this 44-lb terrier mix leans in - literally and figuratively - and shows off his affectionate, loyal, love-bug self. Oscar enjoys playtime and has done well in doggy day care, where he's been building confidence little by little. Still, at heart, he's an introvert. He would thrive in a calm home with patient humans who appreciate slow mornings, peaceful walks, and evenings spent curled up on the couch. An easygoing lifestyle with medium-to-low activity needs would suit him perfectly - he doesn't need constant excitement, just consistency, kindness, and his own people. When it comes to downtime, Oscar is a world-class cuddler - the kind who likes to nest in with his toys, especially a beloved stuffed moose that he hopes will be granted permission to make the trip north with him when the time comes. He's also been politely neutral with the cats he's encountered, taking them in stride without much fuss. Somewhere in his past, Oscar found himself alone and was picked up as a stray by one of our shelter partners. We may never know what he's been through, but we do know this: at 2 years old, he's ready for a fresh start, and he's doing the work to trust again.
