We are seeking an urgent placement for our 15-month-old Coonhound, Julie. Due to a tragic incident where a fight led to the death of our Chihuahua, we must find her a home where she is the only pet or only with other large dogs. About Julie: %BD' Breed/Age: Coonhound, 1 year 3 months old. %BD' Personality: Intelligent, very sweet, affectionate, and high-energy. %BD' Behavioral Note: She has a very strong hunting instinct and has shown food aggression in the past. %BD' The Situation: Julie is currently in a suburban home with a small yard and other small dogs. Following the recent incident, she cannot safely remain in a home with small animals. Our Goal: We are looking for a rescue or an owner experienced with hounds/working breeds. Ideally, she needs a home with a large, secure outdoor space where she can work off her energy. We also have her brother, Jessie (also a 15-month-old Coonhound). They are very bonded and play together all day. While we are willing to keep Jessie, we would love to find a situation where they can stay together if the right home is available. They are both rescues that we took in last year. We truly love them both, and want to do what is best. We have been rescuing dogs our entire lives. This is the saddest incident we have ever experienced. We are located in Virginia and are willing to drive any distance to ensure she (or both) gets to the right environment. We are open to suggestions you might have to help us navigate this situation. We appreciate your time and what you do.
