It is with a very heavy heart that we are looking for a new home for our dog, Iggy. He is four years old. I am pregnant, and we have young toddlers and while we love him more than anything, we don't have the time to play and give him the attention he deserves. Rehoming him is one of the hardest decisions we have made. He is an outside dog that has never tried to break out of our fence and pretty much chills out all day. He has killed raccoons, rodents, and squirrels if they enter his territory. He is great with our kiddos and loves me like he is my shadow when we are outside. He doesn't mind my husband. He is not sure around strangers because I believe he is the protector of our pack in his eyes, especially if the kids are around he tends to watch over. He knows basic commands but as we don't have a lot of time to work with him sometimes it takes a minute for him to do them and remind him. He is reactive with fast movements maybe just as a fearful protective measure with strangers, he has nipped a man's hand one time when he walked into our yard and put his hand down for Iggy to sniff it. He seems to do well with women rather than men and he likes to be petted but certain areas he shows you are off limits. He is very loyal and smart and our big baby. He may have a small attachment separation anxiety if he is left alone for extended period of time. He loves fetch. He can be crated overnight but we don't make him do it often because he doesn't enjoy being separated for too long in them. For his breed, he is very laid back and chill when it comes to energy. He doesn't bark often. He is neutered and has been vaccinated but this year he hasn't had an update of them yet. He would be ideal for a home with someone who doesn't have a lot of people coming in and out and probably would do best with a woman that has a lot of time to spend with him. He doesn't like cats and he has always been fenced in a large area so he would do well with space. We muzzle him at the vet for safety even though he has never bit anyone besides nipping that one man's hand. He will go to his new home with something that smells like us to help him adjust. We only want the very best home for Iggy. I strongly recommend that anyone interested meet him first so you can see his personality in person. Iggy deserves a loving, patient home where he can thrive safely and happily with an experienced patient owner.
