About Hunter

Hunter is a sweet dog many great traits; he is intelligent, great with kids, sweet, and athletic. He very much matches the energy of the room so if the people around him are calm he is content to be a couch potato. He frequently boards on Rover and his hosts have all talked about how sweet he is and how much he loves to play with other dogs. They mention he is slow to warm up but is their little shadow once he is comfortable. Multiple hosts have welcomed him back for multiple visits. We need to rehome Hunter because we are honestly not very strong dog owners and he is a nervous dog. We have worked with a trainer in the past, but struggle to remain consistent. We think with the right training Hunter would be great. We can provide a trainer for you to work with Hunter. He does well at the dog park but has leash aggression. He barks when people come to the door and barks when people walk by the window. He will sleep in a crate if another person or another dog is in the same room with him. We do believe he could be crated during the day if another dog was in a crate next to him. We are able to leave Hunter home during the day (for about 5 to 6 hours) without accidents. He is generally well house broken, having an accident about once a month (never urine). A great family for Hunter would have another dog/best friend for him. We noticed that he follows the cues of other dogs around him and they help him to be more confident. When he boards with Rover folks mention how much he loves their dogs. We have two kids (5 and 11) and he does wonderful with them as well as wonderful with our cat. The most important thing for Hunter would be a strong owner. We are good with practical aspects but struggle with being consistent with training and managing more advanced behaviors.
