Meet Murphy! AKA Smurf. Murphy has a zest for life! He is a happy, sweet, active boy who is amazingly cuddly as well. He loves, loves his morning walks, followed by a nice long nap. Murphy is an energetic boy and is VERY smart and highly food motivated. He is doing well learning is commands and knows sit, stay, down but still needs polishing - he does still need work with recall. Murphy is an eager learner and you can tell he is proud of his progress. He is doing much better on heel and pulls less, but is still working on perfecting his technique! Murphy's perfect home is an active home where he is able to take a nice walk in the mornings to get out his energy and someone who would love to run, hike, and explore with him. He loves exploring and sniffing his surroundings. Murphy would be an awesome dog to work with on agility because he is very athletic, smart and motivated to please. However, he also likes to snuggle on the couch and is a pro at supervising nightly homework sessions. He is a very, very sweet boy and lives with an older child now and has been kind to the children he has met on his morning walks, as well as adults. He would best be placed in a home with kids older than 8 or 9 because he is a large pup and is energetic. Murphy is best placed as either an only dog, or with a female dog. He plays well, though can be a bit too enthusiastic (occasionally overbearing), so another playful, tolerant dog would be a good match. Murphy's absolute favorite thing is food! He is a voracious eater and can polish off a bowl of dog food at warp speed, therefore a slow feeder bowl is a must. He also must be supervised with any plush toy because he is still teething a bit. Although Murphy does have a lot of energy, once he gets his energy out in the morning, he sleeps for a long time. He is mellow and well behaved in the house, though once in a while he might get a burst of energy. Murphy is crate trained and does well in the crate, though for his benefit and because he still relies on the crate when unattended, someone that works from home, or has a really flexible schedule is best. We are devastated to rehome Murphy, but he is way to dominating of our elderly male dog who is a bit frightened of him. Though they do well together the vast majority of the time, Murphy has been aggressive to him on a few occasions and it isn't fair to either of them in the current setting. He is absolute wonderful the vast majority of the time, and is always fine with his sister.
