Meet Penny ե Penny is one of seven puppies born around December 27th to our 37 pound Australian Shepherd mix mama, Frankie. She currently weighs about 8 pounds and is expected to grow into a wonderful medium sized adult. If comfort were a competitive sport, Penny would already have a trophy shelf. This sweet girl believes the best place in the world is in someone's arms, upside down, paws in the air, patiently waiting for a proper belly rub. She doesn't just enjoy snuggles, she commits to them fully. The dramatic flop onto her back is her signature move, and she performs it often. Penny still loves playing with her littermates and joins in the puppy romps, but when the wrestling match winds down, she is usually the first one searching for a lap. She has a gentle, affectionate nature and thrives on human connection. If you sit down, she will consider that a formal invitation. She is doing well with housetraining, but like all young puppies, she will need close supervision and frequent trips outside as she continues to learn. With consistency and praise, she will continue building good habits. Penny would prefer a physically fenced yard where she can safely explore and enjoy her puppy zooms before returning inside for her true calling, professional cuddle companion. She will do best in a home ready to provide both playtime and plenty of hands available for belly rub duty. Penny is ready to meet adopters now and will be ready to move to her new home on March 7th when she is 10 weeks old. She will be spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and have received two of the three required distemper/parvo vaccinations. Her adopters will be responsible for her third distemper/parvo booster and her rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age. If your idea of happiness includes a warm puppy curled against you and a tiny tail thumping in appreciation, Penny is ready to make your lap her forever home. To meet Penny, please fill out an adoption application at furfunrescue.org. Questions? Email [email protected] or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must live within a two hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA.
