About April

April came to us as a rescue from a local Animal Control as she was originally taken in by people who found her wandering the streets of Detroit. She has absolutely so much love in her heart and one of her favorite things in the world is belly rubs. She is the prototypical Siberian Husky where it concerns adventure and energy and has always loved to play with our kids. Unfortunately, she can't seem to control herself when around the cats (of which we have 3) and our senior Husky who doesn't play as much as he used to. April has been through one 6-week beginner obedience course so far and really shined bright amongst her classmates, understanding some commands and we've been working with her to teach her patience and self control. We are looking for a family that has the same space that we do (very big yard to run around in) as well as the continued patience to help teach her the ways of being a part of a loving pack. If there are other dogs, then she would need to have packs that are closer to her age that still want to run and play and rough house sometimes. She has been fairly good with keeping on property, occasionally getting the curiosity to explore, but but her true weakness is cheese and will always do anything for a simple slice of American from the plastic wrap. Basically, she's a little girl who really needs a home more suitable to one as we really can't seem to make it work for her here. We love her kisses and her Husky Hugs, finding the perfect scratching spots and loving her, it just is not easy for her to mesh well with the other pets. Important to note: she has obvious issues with cataracts in her Right eye and will likely develop the same in her left eye, though she's got a hunter's nose that can't be beat. Please consider all aspects of the breed if you don't already have one in your home. If our boy was a few years younger, it might've worked better. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
