About Hermione

Location: Aubrey, TX DOB: 07/13/2023 Hermione is a beautiful black Labrador Retriever and Great Dane mix who truly embodies the best qualities of both breeds. She has the playful, social nature of a Lab combined with the loyalty and devotion of a Dane. Weighing approximately 70 pounds, she happily considers herself a lap dog and prefers to be wherever her people are. Hermione has a sweet, affectionate personality and thrives on companionship. She is a 'shadow dog' who enjoys following her person from room to room and being included in daily activities. She is friendly, confident, and loves meeting new people, greeting both adults and children with a gentle, happy demeanor. Her energy level is moderate. She enjoys daily walks and a good game of fetch, along with short bursts of playful zoomies. One of her endearing habits is rolling onto her back and wiggling around when she gets excited. After activity, she is content to relax and cuddle on the couch or in bed with her family. Hermione is housetrained, crate trained, walks well on leash, rides well in the car, and is muzzle trained. She settles nicely in her kennel, especially with a food toy or chew, and does well with some background noise such as music or a podcast. She is highly food motivated, intelligent, and eager to please, making continued training enjoyable and productive. Because she came into rescue as a stray, Hermione may take a little extra time to adjust to a new home. She is dog-friendly and does especially well with larger, calm, confident dogs. With smaller dogs, she will need proper introductions and supervision initially. She has shown some resource guarding tendencies, so she will do best with a confident, dog-savvy owner who can provide clear leadership, structure, and consistency. Hermione has met cats and can coexist with slow, patient introductions and guidance, though a cat-free home may be ideal. She has done well with children and is affectionate and gentle. She can be briefly startled by loud noises or sudden movements but recovers quickly with reassurance. With routine, boundaries, and a steady hand, Hermione thrives and continues to gain confidence. Hermione's ideal home will provide structure, consistency, and inclusion in everyday life. She is deeply loyal, loving, and devoted to her people.
