Julia AKA 'Lyra' (per the rescue) is an approximately 2 year old beautiful petite German Shepherd who was rescued when she was found as a pregnant stray and taken to a Texas shelter where she gave birth. When her number was up and euthanasia was scheduled for the whole family, a rescue stepped in and saved her and her six puppies. This amazing family came to Colorado for foster and the puppies have all found homes. Mama still needs her forever home. Julia is exceptionally sweet and a terrific Mom. Julia rarely barks and loves to lounge in sunny spots dreaming of her new Colorado life. She especially loves to lay down outside and smell the air and watch the birds. She is small for her breed at only around 58 pounds. Julia is housetrained & not at all destructive when left alone in the home. It is unknown how she does with other dogs and cats as she is being fostered in a home without animals at this time. She seems to be non-reactive to wildlife and dogs walking by. She is heartworm positive and that will require a couple of months of treatment and activity restriction. The rescue will pay for heartworm treatment if done at the vet they choose. Julia walks perfectly on a leash and is mostly just interested in her human. She is extremely shy and fearful around new people however she bonds strongly with her people once she trusts them. Her adopter will have to be understanding of her past experience and be patient with her gaining confidence in her new home. It's time for this beautiful sweet Mama to land her forever home. She is currently being fostered near Denver. https://www.frgsr.org/available-dogs. She is Lyra on the website.
