About ISSI

ISSI is a 21-month-old, 15.6 lb (she's a bit overweight) Chihuahua Dachshund mix sadly surrendered because her prior owner is in hospice care. ISSI is an affectionate little sweetheart who truly loves everyone she meets. She's happiest snuggled up close, generously handing out kisses, and gets adorably excited when you call her name. She enjoys chewing bones, shredding stuffy toys, and relaxing with her people, though soft blankets or plush items probably shouldn't be left unattended since she may decide they're fair game when bored. ISSI gets along nicely with other dogs and will play both indoors and outside, but she's not overly high energy and doesn't need constant dog playtime. She would likely do just fine as a solo dog with a person who isn't gone long hours. She can occasionally be a little possessive about food or her person with other dogs and may grumble, but she responds well to gentle correction and this behavior has already improved. Cats and older kids should be fine, but a home without very young children would be best. ISSI walks beautifully on a loose leash at an easy, relaxed pace. She rides wonderfully in the car (especially if she can sit in your lap). She does well going potty outside with a consistent schedule, though she may have accidents if not taken out regularly, particularly for bowel movements. She hasn't yet gone potty while on leash walks, likely because she's used to fenced yard access, and continued leash potty practice will help. At night, ISSI absolutely loves sleeping cuddled up with her humans. If she can reach the bed, that's where you'll find her. If not, she'll settle into a dog bed nearby, but being close to her people is definitely her favorite place to be. ISSI is spayed, current on shots, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. We adopt within a 6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally (within 1 hour to Pensacola).
