About Remy

Remy is an 8-year-old, 100-pound Catahoula who is up to date on all vaccinations and vet visits. Although he is mostly blind (some limited vision), he navigates well and can use a large dog door and is crate trained. Remy has always been incredibly loving and gentle. He was raised around children, their friends, and cats. Remy is a rescue from Hurricane Harvey. He was bred by people that overbred catahoulas. They had a posting that they were getting 'rid' of a puppy. My daughter took him to foster and find a home for. After the storm, my sister was in Houston visiting and took him back to upstate New York where she lived to give him a safe and loving home with her son and grandchildren. She knew it would take commitment, but she wanted to give him the life he deserved. Remy has been deeply loved and grew up surrounded by kids. Four years ago, we moved my sister, her husband, the grandchildren, and Remy to Houston to be closer to family. The children had lost their father, my sister's son. The grandchildren are now in college and are unable to take Remy with them. My sister, who is 78, has been battling serious health issues, including lung cancer and pneumonia, she is no longer physically able to care for him. She also lost her husband last July. Remy is sweet, affectionate, and very much a part of the family. He is strong but not very active. He enjoys sleeping near my sister or the college kids, walking on a leash, riding in the car, and simply relaxing by your side. We have to find a good home for him. Please share this post. Remy needs a home now. He is unable to live where my sister now lives. My sister has had to move to a single level condo with an elevator. She is going through PT to get stronger and be able to walk.
