Big Boy is an approx. 4 yr-old 135-lb male Great Pyrenes who was found wandering alongside Hwy 101 in San Jose in Feb. 2025 without a collar in the rain. He was neutered but had no chip, had some mild abrasions that a vet cleaned the same day. 'Found dog' notices were not answered. He was sweet, loving, affectionate, easy-going, and well-behaved. We fostered him for 2 months in Oakland, CA in a spacious home with a backyard where he enjoyed the companionship of another medium-sized dog. A relative wanted to adopt him so we drove him to San Diego in May 2025, where he ended up being confined regularly to a small indoor space by himself, unfortunately. Eventually another small dog was adopted as a way to ease his anxiety, but his basic need for adequate space and stimulation were not being consistently met. Confinement anxiety resulted in household items getting destroyed, this stress response was addressed with trazadone. On 2/18/26 we re-rescued Big Boy from San Diego. He's the most wonderful dog and we're willing to foster him for a few months while searching for an ideal home with a loving family who can meet his needs. The destructive behavior he showed in San Diego immediately ceased when his living circumstances changed. He is not at all barky or overly fixated on food, his vaccinations and flea-tick prevention are current. His teeth were recently cleaned. He exhibits all the wonderful traits of a Great Pyrenes mix. His presence is very calming, his eyes are soulful, he's tremendously affectionate. He often gets adorably goofy-silly with excitement right before walks. Everything about this handsome guy is a plus, except maybe his preference for backing up into bushes to do his business, makes clean up tricky.
