About Maya

Maya is a Pointer/Hound mix who was rescued from a kill shelter by a well meaning family, but unfortunately life circumstances changed and they are no longer able to meet her high energy needs. My husband and I took her on as a Foster and we are now beginning the search to find Maya her perfect forever home. Maya is a super sweet, affectionate, and loving dog who gets along great with dogs, cats, horses, etc. She is eager to please and is a quick learner. While she does have higher energy levels, they are not unmanageable and she oftens loves to sprawl out on the floor or her bed and sleep. She loves to play with toys (especially chasing laser beams) and chew on bones. Her training has progressed wonderfully but because she is still young she cannot be left to her own devices for lengthy periods of time. She is great in the car, crate trained, potty trained, knows how to do sit, down, and come. She will not go outside through the door unless you give her the okay. She is currently learning how to walk on a leash without pulling. Maya would be a great addition to an active family with a large fenced in yard or a farm where she could have a 'job.'
