About Belle

Location: Kannapolis, NC DOB: 05/04/2024 Meet Belle, a sweet and affectionate Great Dane mix with a gentle spirit and a playful, goofy side. She is a true 'Velcro' dog who loves being close to her people. Whether she is rearranging her favorite blanket, lounging on the couch, or leaning in for snuggles, Belle is happiest when she is near her family. Belle lives with children and does well with kids ages 10 and up. She is good with other dogs and tends to be submissive, especially around food, so she is currently fed separately to keep mealtimes peaceful. She allows people to approach her while eating and is comfortable having items taken from her. She may do well with another calm, respectful dog who will not overwhelm her as she continues building confidence. She rides well in the car and does fine in a crate when needed, though she would much prefer a cozy couch. Belle is still working on leash skills and recall. She can be hesitant when having her collar or leash put on, but once she is ready, she enjoys walks and outings. She is not fully house trained yet and may have occasional accidents, especially in cold or unpleasant weather. Belle has a history of chewing inappropriate items and has undergone two surgeries to remove foreign objects, so close supervision and management will be important in her new home. She may also show signs of separation anxiety and can be fearful of vacuums, brooms, and similar household items. Despite her sensitivities, Belle is incredibly loving and eager to bond. With patience, structure, and reassurance, she continues to make progress and show her joyful personality. She would do best in a calm, committed home that understands she is still learning and is willing to help her grow into a confident, well-adjusted companion. Belle has no bite history. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines and preventatives.
