Ellie is a very reserved, well-behaved dog when she is with her favorite humans at home. She loves walks in the woods, hiking adventures and car rides. On cold and rainy days, she rather be inside with you cuddling on the couch. She also likes to play ball, and it is highly preferable she has a big yard to run around. Currently she has a dog door with a tall fence (she is a jumper and can escape short fences quite easily). She has never run away though and likes to be near her owners at all times. She is good on a leash, and easy to redirect if she is triggered by the sight of another dog or stranger. Sometimes she may not even react at all. Because she is unpredictable with which dogs she tolerates, she needs to be the only dog in a home and always on a leash when in public spaces. She has done well with living with three cats, but they also had plenty of space inside and outside the house, so they didn't have to interact much. Outside of her reactivity, she is a very sweet and smart girl that loves food (training her new tricks will be easy as she will be very motivated to get that treat)! She needs slow introductions to new people and prefers women. She has never been around kids, so I only want to rehome to an adult only household. Her new owner should be someone that is aware of dog language, patient with reactivity and has a quiet space for her to live. Preferably someone who has the time to work on some training as well (such as continue her learning to not react to others on walks or working on her separation anxiety when you leave). Her current owner cannot keep her because she doesn't get along with another pet in the home. She currently lives with another family member, but due to their declining health she needs a new home. I believe she would be very successful with the right home as she is very manageable with someone who can exercise her often, be attentive and live in a place with low human/dog traffic. If you are interested in giving Ellie a good life, you will need to be willing to meet a couple times to adjust to you and we will go from there. She would be a good project dog for someone who is willing to put in a bit of work for her anxiety. She is pretty easy to take care of for someone who lives a quiet lifestyle without much going on inside or outside the house.
