Porter is a 6-7 year old ACD mix weighing 48 pounds who has been with us for 5 years. He is house broken, crate trained, gets along well with 90% of other dogs. He loves going on walks in our neighborhood. He is very smart and is definitely 'treat' motivated. He likes playing with balls that dispense treats or dry kibble. He enjoys being given pieces of crushed ice, twice a week he gets a frosty paw treat. Porter likes car rides and going to smaller dog parks. He knows several commands such as sit, down, shake, speak, and turn around. He does NOT like cats, and for some reason, goes crazy when he sees a turtle %A4%8F%BC'%8D'ە%8F. He sometimes will bark at squirrels or bunnies while on a walk but mostly leaves them alone. He gets very reactive when Fed Ex, UPS and Prime delivery trucks drive by if he is outside. Same with some of the larger landscaping vehicles. Due to the nature of his breed, he has on occasion nipped at people visiting in our house. For that reason, he would do best in a home with older children. Full disclosure, in October of 2023, he did bite the back of my hand and broke the skin. It was not a severe bite and was in response to his perceived danger to me by a stranger in our home. I can provide more detail if necessary. We are seeking to re-home Porter because of a change in our family's living environment. We have a newborn grandchild living nearby and her parents aren't willing to bring the child to our home because of their fear of a possible bite. It's breaking our hearts to have to do this but we can't imagine not having our only grandchild in our home.
