About Gem

We ask only the fee we were required to pay the shelter for a vet checkup & spayed-animal adoption fee. We also covered her rabies shot and first month of Simperica Trio heartworm, flea and tick prevention. She has also been groomed professionally. Gem is a sweet, well-behaved dog who loves human companionship, playing with other dogs and gets along well with cats, too. She LOVES to cuddle and give hugs. She knows basic commands of sit, stay, no, shake a paw, and perhaps more we haven't yet discovered. She is not destructive. She plays only with the dog toys given and leaves clothes, furniture and household items alone. Her favorite game is tug-of-war. She is an Isabella Husky, which are slightly smaller than their sled-dog counterparts, the Siberian Huskies. Huskies of all sorts are talkers instead of barkers. Listening to them 'talk' to you adds entertainment, believe me! An excited yap once in awhile is all we've heard out of Gem. They are highly trainable. She can catch a toy mid-air and tosses to catch her own toys. I feel she'd be a great Frisbee dog. She is kennel and crate trained and even remains calm when you return to let her out. She does well on a leash, loves our harness instead of just her collar, for comfort. We feed her the same high-quality dry dog food and single-ingredient healthy treats that we feed our own Husky. She is a grazer, so no worry of gorging and gaining a lot of weight. As much as she likes to play, she is a very chill dog, who is content lying on a dog bed, looking out the window, climbing onto your lap (she's all legs, so it is hilarious) and just lounging to chew on a Nylabone. We rescued this girl to foster only and cannot afford monetarily to keep her long-term. The ideal forever home will have a fenced yard and lots of room to run around. She really is a sweet animal and will make the perfect family addition. Please consider adding her to yours.
