Looking for the Perfect Home - 7-Year-Old Akita It absolutely breaks my heart to write this, but I'm looking to rehome my beautiful 7-year-old female Akita, Nymeria. This decision hasn't been made lightly - I love her deeply - but my current living situation just isn't fair to her anymore. Ϭ About Her: 7 years old Spayed Friendly with everyone Especially Loves kids Great with other dogs (big and small!) Used to being around different dogs weekly - she comes to work with me sometimes (I'm a dog groomer), so she's well-socialized. She also goes to the dog park on occasion. She truly has a sweet, affectionate personality and bonds deeply with her people. s%A0%8F What She Needs: She has a high prey drive, so she cannot live with cats or other small animals. She would do best in a home without them. She also struggles with separation anxiety and being left alone for long periods. While it's not constant, she can become destructive when home alone - about once every couple of weeks. Over the years she's chewed holes in my couch and ripped up blankets and pillows. I've tried crate training, but she becomes very distressed in a kennel, when alone, and will damage anything within reach trying to get out, including the kennel tray and surrounding items, but she'll sleep in the kennel with the door open at night most nights. %8F Ideal Home: Someone who works from home or is home often A securely fenced backyard where she can run and burn off energy No small animals Someone experienced with larger breeds (Akita experience is a plus!) She doesn't deserve to be cooped up in my small apartment, and I can see that she needs more space and time than I'm able to give her right now. I am committed to finding her the right fit - this is not a first-come, first-served situation. I want her to go somewhere where she will thrive. If you think you might be the right home for her or want to learn more, please contact me.
