Hi, I'm Jovie. I'm a 7-year-old, petite Staffy mix (about 45-50 lbs) with a sleek black coat and a heart that's much bigger than I look. If you're reading this, you're already doing something important: you're seeing me. I'm going to be honest right away because I respect people who appreciate the truth. I'm not the kind of dog who runs up to strangers and demands attention. I take a moment to feel safe. I watch. I listen. I decide if you're my person. When I trust you, though, it's not halfway. It's all-in. The kind of loyalty that shows up every day, quietly and consistently, and makes you wonder how you ever lived without it. My story almost ended before it really began. I was scheduled to be euthanized until someone believed in me. Someone saw more than a label, more than a quick first impression, and gave me the chance to keep going. That second chance is the reason I'm here, and I'm hoping you might be the reason I finally get my forever. There's something people don't talk about enough called Black Dog Syndrome. Black dogs are often overlooked in shelters and rescues, not because we're less loving or less worthy, but because we're harder to photograph, harder to 'see' online, and somehow we blend into the background. I've been in that background before. I'm asking you to look a little longer. Because once you do, you might realize I'm exactly what you've been hoping to find. I want my people all to myself, and I do best when I'm not asked to share my space with other pets. �'ۢ I do well with kids and humans, especially once I know and trust them. I just need a family who understands that trust is something we build, not something we rush.
