About BENTLEY

Adoption Fee: $500
Shih Tzu / Maltese
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

BENTLEY is a 3-year-old, 16 pound Maltese/Shih Tzu mix who was surrendered due to his owner's health. He's healthy, happy, and ready for his forever home. BENTLEY is a loyal, affectionate, slightly goofy boy who will keep you smiling. He is very sweet and bonds closely with his person, gives plenty of kisses, and happily follows his foster mom from room to room. He's a great companion dog. BENTLEY is generally good with other dogs but has had a few minor issues with some male dogs in his foster home, likely related to previously being unaltered (it's important to note that Bentley hasn't started the issues but he doesn't back down either). Since being neutered, things have improved with structure and guidance. But he would do best as an only dog or with a calm, passive female companion. In-your-face or alpha-type dogs won't work for him. We do not know how he would be with kids, but based on his friendly personality with people we think older kids should be fine. Cats are unknown. BENTLEY enjoys spending time outside and has mastered using the dog door, which makes him very happy. A fenced yard would be ideal, though he also walks nicely on leash and rides well in the car, making him a great little companion for outings. In his current foster home he's about 95% potty trained but he's being fostered with a lot of different dogs and a lot of males that are unhouse broken. His foster mom believes in a 'normal' home he is likely going to be house broken but it might take him a minute to get back into the routine. At night, BENTLEY absolutely loves cuddling right next to his person in bed, and once he's fully relaxed for the night, he flips onto his back with his feet in the air, completely comfortable and relaxed. He loves toys and is a great eater. BENTLEY is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, had had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
