Blue Heeler (ACD) - 2 Years Old -Spayed - Experienced Home Only! *had puppy shots but had reactions each time so we have held off on boosters* We are looking to rehome our 2-year-old female Blue Heeler 'Stella Rose' to an experienced heeler/cattle dog home only. She is incredibly loyal and a sweetheart to her people. She knows basic commands, is very smart, and thrives when she has structure and a job to do. She is great with other dogs and has done well visiting family members who also have dogs and cats. However, despite being raised around our children (got her at 10 weeks), she has shown that she is uneasy with kids (younger kids- she's ok with the 6year old who gives her space when needed). She can be feisty and has had nippy tendencies, especially when overstimulated or when her space is not respected - for example at night if she's bothered while sleeping. While she has never caused a serious injury or even made contact, we do not want to risk an accident happening especially with a baby learning to walk around her. She has typical heeler traits - very driven, bossy, and in farm terms is more of a header (likes to control livestock from the front). She would do best in a working environment, active home, or with someone experienced in the breed who can continue her training and give her an outlet for her instincts. She has been a bit sensitive about her feet, but we've worked through it and I'm able to clip her nails now. Our original plan was to send her off for professional training once we move to Texas, but after much thought - and advice from others - we cannot ignore the risk to our kids. This is not fair to her or to them. She cannot live cooped up in a trailer environment with small children long-term. This decision is devastating. We obviously love her deeply, but we have to make the responsible choice for everyone involved. If you are an experienced heeler owner and feel you can give her the structured, child-free (or older kid) home she needs, please reach out to me privately. We will be selective about placement because her future matters to us.
