About Guey and Joey

Hello, I am looking for someone who can foster our cats temporarily. We will be leaving the area for long stretches and cannot take them with us. I am not looking to rehome permanently but rather a temporary foster-shared custody type of arrangement for approximately two years. I have reached out to many of our area's animal welfare leagues (mid and southern Maryland) with no success and we cannot afford long-term boarding. We hope to find someone who will treat them like family and be open to just keeping them while we are out of the area and letting us pick them up when we are back in the area. Auto-delivery of cat litter, treats, flea collars, and food would continue. I normally clean their litter box daily but am willing to provide a litter robot if necessary. Guey and Joey (tuxedo) are a bonded pair, neutered, and microchipped. Guey joined the family in 2019 as a 9-week-old kitten. He is on the reserved side and likes neck rubs before going on his way. Joey is the opposite. Adopted in 2021 and is the best lap-cat and snuggle buddy. He is also a little on the heavier side. They are 100% indoor cats but occasionally escort them outside for sun and grass time. As far as their demeanor around other animals, we normally do not have other pets but were recently taking care of a Service member's kitten and older dog. Guey's reaction to them is to keep to himself while Joey was more engaging, especially with the kitten. Neither one seemed bothered by the dog. As far as other humans, they will take a bit to warm up to someone and will normally stay hidden until they feel comfortable enough to come out.
