About Axcel

Meet Axel! His he-man body belies his marshmallow core. And that face? If you're not ready to adopt a dog, then DO NOT meet Axel. He will steal your heart. His capability for such theft should really be a crime. Axel is a four-year old big boy of 98 pounds. Strong as an ox and built like a Mack truck, he'll need an adopter with brawn. He generally walks well on leash, but if something sparks his curiosity, watch out. The boy can pull very hard. Axel is with the good people of Fitchburg Animal Control after his family could no longer keep him. He's a well-adjusted dog with a fantastic disposition. Axel does very well beside the other shelter dogs, but gets excited when meeting them in person. Not aggressive or reactive, he's just very determined to make new canine acquaintances. He'll be a great only dog, though he could live with a compatible dog if the person is good at managing large breeds. Axel has been neutered and is up to date on everything. He keeps his kennel clean and has a built-in window-washer if you don't mind slobber over Windex. Any kids in the home must be older and large-dog experienced, and they should not walk him. No small children because one wag of that tail can knock them over! Reportedly, his only dislikes are cats. His shelter advocate said, 'He's absolutely gorgeous.' We totally agree!
