This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Darling girl Darla is a 3-year-old, 51-pound black Lab mix with a heart as big as her soulful eyes. She's friendly, affectionate, and wonderfully balanced-calm and content inside near her people, and playful and happy to romp with other dogs in the yard when it's time to burn some energy. One of Darla's most endearing traits is that she connects easily with her person. She makes beautiful eye contact, clearly wants to please, and has already learned several basic commands like sit, stay, come, down, off-and she even catches treats! If she's playing chase with other dogs and you call her, she'll happily peel away to join you. Darla truly wants her person. She is fully housetrained, quickly learned how to use a dog door, and is quiet and relaxed in a crate-often choosing to nap in an open one on her own. On leash, she's a dream: she walks calmly, doesn't pull, and instinctively sits when you stop. She also enjoys car rides and rides quietly. Affection is Darla's love language. When you're petting other dogs, she'll patiently line up for her turn. When invited, she'll stand close, lean in, and give the sweetest full-body 'hug' while you pet her. She takes treats gently, doesn't jump for attention, and has no chewing issues. Darla gets along well with other dogs and is respectful of older pups. She has met adults and children alike and enjoyed gentle affection and treat time with them. She may do well with a dog-savvy cat, based on a quick introduction. With patience and kindness, she's blossomed into a confident, loving companion who responds beautifully to training and guidance. Darla would thrive in a home where she can be both a loyal companion and an active partner, someone who enjoys walking, training, and playing, but also appreciates a dog who is perfectly happy resting nearby. A fenced yard with a dog door would be ideal so she can sun herself on the deck or explore at her leisure. Whether as a family dog or a devoted best friend, Darla is truly a diamond in the rough-loving, loyal, gentle, and ready to give her whole heart to the right home. Interested in adopting?
